Coastal Cuisine has a ring to it.

It evokes images of barbecued OYSTERS at the beach, a zesty fireside CIOPPINO or an elegant celebration dinner of grilled SALMON with ASPARAGUS and ARTICHOKES. When that cuisine comes from coastal Marin, it has added dimension.

This is agricultural land, settled in the early 1800s by Portuguese fishermen and northern European dairy and beef ranchers. Their tradition of hearty, savory meals lends its old world magic to regional cooking. Recent immigrants from Mexico bring sass and boldness to local fare, with surprising herbs and spices in unlikely blends.

Most recently, today's burgeoning organic farming movement has its roots here. Fields of edible greens paint the landscape touting the stunning flavors of naturally grown produce.
